Super Smash Bros. Switch Invitational and Splatoon 2 World Championship to be held at E3
Nintendo will host a Super Smash Bros. Invitational at E3 2018.
The first-ever exhibition tournament featuring Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo Switch will be held at E3 2018 in June.
Nintendo will invite a group of players to participate in the Super Smash Bros. Invitational 2018 tournament for the upcoming Switch title.
During a Nintendo Direct presentation in March it was announced Super Smash Bros. would be released for Switch this year. Nintendo called Super Smash Bros. a “working title," and at present details are practically non-existent.
A short trailer provided a look at confirmed characters for Super Smash Bros. and teased quite a few others.
It's assumed to be a new title, but it could very well be a port of Super Smash Bros. Wii U. We'll have to wait for clarification from Nintendo, which will hopefully come before E3.
The first world championship for Splatoon 2 will also take place alongside the Super Smash Bros. Invitational.
Prior to the Splatoon 2 World Championship, Nintendo will host online qualifiers for the US and Canada. The qualifier will be the Splatoon 2 US/Canada Inkling Open 2018 hosted by Battlefy.
Open qualifiers for teams of four, ages 13 and up, will take place on April 21 starting at 11am PDT, 2pm EDT. Finals will take place on April 28 at 8am PDT, 11am EDT.
Teams will compete in Turf War during the open qualifiers and in Ranked Battle modes during the finals.
Interested parties can find more information on qualifiers and register for the Splatoon 2 World Championship through the link.
Splatoon 2 players in Japan, Europe, and Australia who competed for a spot at the Splatoon 2 World Championship should check information from their local regions regarding these qualifiers.
The Super Smash Bros. Invitational 2018 and the Splatoon 2 World Championship will be livestreamed.
Nintendo said its additional plans for E3 2018 will be announced at a later date.
