Super Meat Boy's iOS outing to be reflex-based

You won't need to memorise level layouts to successed with the iOS release of Super Meat Boy: The Game.

"[Super Meat Boy] was a twitch-based game about memorizing things. [The mobile release] is the opposite. That's the foundation of its design," Team Meat's Edmund McMillen told Polygon.

"But it's also on a touch device, so there's that as well. We want to make a twitch-based platformer that's not about memorization."

McMillen noted that he was disappointed in Bit.Trip Runner because it relied on memory, and that he envisions something closer to Canabalt for the reflex-based mobile Super Meat Boy game - although he did not that Canabalt is "very surface-level stuff".

Team Meat announced the mobile release in early April, noting that it wouldn't be a direct port of existing Super Meat Boy games, but an entirely new offering designed specifically for touch screen controls.

The original, notoriously difficult Super Meat Boy is available on Mac, PC and Xbox Live Arcade and has totted up over 1 million sales.
