Super Mario Odyssey is fastest-selling Super Mario game ever in the US with 1.1 million sold

Super Mario Odyssey has become the fastest-selling Super Mario game ever in the United States.

Nintendo announced today the latest game in the Super Mario franchise, Super Mario Odyssey, has sold over 1.1 million units in the US alone. This made the it the fastest-selling game in the region by hitting the figure within three days of release.

Super Mario Odyssey is also the fastest-selling game so far for Nintendo Switch.

It is also the best-reviewed game on Metacritic for any system of the last three years, tied only with Nintendo Switch launch game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Super Mario Odyssey currently holds a critical review average of 97, with 43 perfect scores on the site. You can check out a round up of Super Mario Odyssey reviews through the link. Nintendo announced earlier this week global sell through of Super Mario Odyssey exceeded 2 million units within three days on the market.

The firm also announced in its latest financials the total number of Switch systems sold in the US through the end of October now stands at more than 2.6 million.

Nintendo has increased supplies of Nintendo Switch to meet demand through the holidays.
