New Super Mario Bros and Lost Levels sites celebrate Mario’s 35th anniversary
Nintendo is taking Mario’s 35th anniversary pretty seriously.
As well as announcing a new 35-player online battle game, Super Mario 3d All-Stars, and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, Nintendo is also adding in-game celebrations of everyone’s favourite mushroom-addled plumber to Animal Crossing New Horizons and Splatoon 2.
But the fun doesn’t stop there – Nintendo has also published a pair of new sites dedicated to the original Super Mario Bros. game and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels.
The sites have been launched to pay tribute to the original launch of the first Super Mario Bros. game, which came out 35 years ago today (September 13).
Each site introduces players to the game, the characters in its respective title, and gives you an overview of the items and enemies in the game, too.
As if that wasn’t enough, the site also allows players to download PDF versions of the original manuals for each title.
The sites have appeared ahead of you being able to jump back into the classic games in with the release of the Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch, available on November 13.
If you want to play the games today to really get in that anniversary mood, you can play through both via Nintendo Switch Online's NES/SNES service.
