Street Fighter X Tekken's Pandora Mode detailed
We've spoken briefly before about the Pandora Mode to be included in Street Fighter X Tekken - but now, Seth Killian from Capcom has shed some light on this exciting new suicide mission.
Speaking with Joystiq while at Tokyo Game Show, Killian revealed how it all works (and, more excitingly, how there's a valid reason for it in the game's storyline).
Simply put: Once a character has less than 25% health, the gamer can hit a button and kill the injured character, transferring an infinite EX meter to the gamer's tag partner. Sounds great - but it only lasts for eight seconds... and then the second character dies, too.
"[The characters] basically sacrifice themselves to the pandora box, which loves fighting, and which has brought the Tekken and Street Fighter universes together."
Obviously, Pandora Mode is a double-edged sword. Even if you win, you lose. Killian explains that this risk sets the mechanic apart from the X Factor move in Marvel vs Capcom 3, or other "desperation" moves that are currently on the market. While those other moves don't really matter if you succeed or fail, Pandora Mode puts gamers at "a massive disadvantage," says Killian.
