Street Fighter x Tekken, Asura's Wrath not stocked at GAME this week
Street Fighter x Tekken and Asura's Wrath will not be stocked at GAME ahead of both games releases this week, publisher Capcom has told MCV, but the chain has told VG247 the setback is merely "temporary".
Capcom said the special edition of SFxT will be made available from a "wide variety" of retailers throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland.
The launch of Street Fighter x Tekken and Asura's Wrath are some of the week's biggest launches alongside Mass Effect 3, now all three of which won't be stocked by GAME.
It's unknown if the company has made a decision on if the retailer should stock Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City before its March 26 release.
"Unfortunately Capcom must confirm that Street Fighter x Tekken for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and Asura’s Wrath, both scheduled for release on Friday March 9, will not be stocked by GAME or gamestation either in their retail outlets or on their online stores operating in the UK and Ireland," said a Capcom statement.
"Capcom wants to reassure its consumers that both these titles, including the Special Edition of Street Fighter X Tekken, will be available at a wide variety of retailers across the UK and Ireland. For those consumers who have already placed a deposit for a pre-order for any of these titles then a full refund will be available – please contact your local GAME or Gamestation shop or visit the online stores."
GAME has told VG247 it's currently in continuing talks with Capcom to resolve the situation, but said it'd would refund those who pre-ordered in store or online, adding it'd give £5 in reward points as a small gesture of compensation.
"Unfortunately, we have not yet been able to agree launch plans for Asura's Wrath and Street Fighter X Tekken, and they will not be available in our stores or online when they’re released this Friday (March 9)," read a GAME statement.
"We’re in talks with Capcom to resolve this temporary situation and we apologise to our customers for this disappointing news.
"Customers who have already placed a deposit for a pre-order for any of these titles will receive a full refund using the method of payment used for the purchase e.g. for those who paid by credit card, the amount will be reimbursed to the card used for payment."
It continued: "For customers who have placed either a deposit or pre-order we will be offering the £5 worth of Reward/Elite points next time they visit the store.
"Customers who have pre-ordered in store will have the opportunity to add £5 worth of Reward points to their card if they visit us from March 6 through to March 31 2012."
GAME has told customers to check Capcom's European website for details on where to get the titles elsewhere.
Alongside Asura and SFxT, GAME won't be stocking Mass Effect 3 this week and other EA titles during the duration of March. It also hasn't stocked The Last Story and Mario Part 9,Ubisoft's Vita launch line-up until last week.
It was reported this morning execs could "pull the plug" on the chain.
