"Stay tuned" for Resident Evil 7 news, says Capcom
But there's no plans for a new Devil May Cry just yet.
Capcom fans have received bitter-sweet news this morning. Resident Evil 7 looks like it's happening, but a new Devil May Cry is off the agenda.
Speaking in the 600th issue of Dengeki PlayStation magazine, as noted by Siliconera, producer Masachika Kawata said this of Resident Evil 7: "We’re currently not at a state to talk about it… but please stay tuned."
He also added that he was currently "preparing" to bring back horror to the series after fan complaints that with so many spin-off titles Resident Evil has lost it's original focus.
"Since there’s been more spinoff titles, I can see how it can be perceived in such a way. And of course I believe that we should produce titles that bring out the horror. I’m thinking about it and also preparing for it."
Elsewhere in the same magazine, Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi said that both an offline version of Dragon's Dogma and a new Devil May Cry game were not currently in the works.
"They’re also things I’d like to personally do, but there are no plans."
