As you spend more time in Stardew Valley, you’ll require more and more effective tools. Your fishing rod is no exception, as you’ll need the very best to catch some of the more difficult fish. The best fishing rod in Stardew Valley is the Iridium Rod. You must purchase it from Willy’s Fish Shop for 7,500g. To even unlock it as an item, you need to be fishing level 6. The Iridium Rod can use bait AND tackle, so is extremely effective at catching fish.
Stardew Valley Fishing Tips
Catching fish in Stardew Valley is pretty tricky. There’s a unique minigame that you’ll have to play each time you hook a fish, which is hard at lower levels. First off you need to cast your rod and into a body of water. Wait until an exclamation mark appears above your head, and then reel in the fish. At this point, a green bar and a fish will appear. You need to use the action button to raise the green bar. Placing the green bar over the fish will fill the catch meter, eventually catching it. Fish will move up and down the meter, so you’ll need to keep up. Here are some Stardew Valley fishing tips:
- Tap the button rather than holding it.
- Using a controller is easier.
- Practice hovering the bar in one spot, this will train you to hold it steady.
- Use certain tackle to slow the fish, bar and make things easier.
Stardew Valley Fishing Treasure Chests
Every now and then, especially on a good luck day, you’ll find treasure chests when you fish. To open them, you just need to hover the bar over the chest until the small yellow bar fills up.
