StarCraft Universe MMO Kickstarter launches
The Blizzard-approved StarCraft Universe MMO mod has taken to Kickstarter. Developer Upheaval Arts hopes to raise enough funds to create the game's first act and to get a public beta on the move.
As we reported back in February, StarCraft Universe is published via Battle.net and the mod takes StarCraft 2 from an RTS to a fully-blown MMO title.
The StarCraft Universe Kickstarter campaign is now live and the team is seeking $80,000. At the time of writing it has amassed $3,790 with 29 days left.
StarCraft Universe is set in an alternate version of Blizzard's world, where the Protoss are defeated at the end of StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty and the universe is thrust into a struggle for survival. It tells the story of how the game's races and characters endure during those dark days.
Upheaval Arts is aiming to make the third-person MMO free-to-play and playable via Battle.net using StarCraft 2. Stretch goals include making the Zerg a playable race, creating a MOBA-style PvP component, adding new story acts and much more.
