Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order patch makes combat more responsive, ledge grabs more consistent
There's a new Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order update that's the first to address core mechanics in meaningful ways.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has received a new patch that focuses on tweaking combat and platforming. Though this isn't the game's first post-launch update, it's certainly the first to tackle a - sometimes controversial - side of the game.
The first component of this update is making Cal "more responsive" through a series of tweaks to stagger reactions, kick and flyback animations. Respawn also tweaked staff parry animations and sprint attacks.
The patch notes do not go into any more detail beyond that, so you'll have to try the game out for yourself to see how the updated combat feels. I noted in our Jedi: Fallen Order review how combat could be improved, particularly when it comes to parry feedback and stagger animations, so it's good to see improvements there.
The sometimes inconsistent ledge grabbing animations have also been touched up in this update, making them more responsive and predictable. Outside of combat, Respawn also fixed the bug that caused seeds to stop blooming in the Terrarium on the ship, something that prevented players from unlocking the achievement associated with it.
The patch should be available now, and you can read the full change log below:
- We've updated Cal so that he is more responsive during combat. This change includes tweaks to stagger reactions, kicks, flybacks, staff parry and sprint attacks.
- Fixed an issue that would cause ledge grabs and climbing to sometimes behave incorrectly.
- Fixed an audio issue that would sometimes cause sound effects to play in the incorrect order.
- Multiple collision fixes across both Zeffo and Bogano.
- BD-1 would sometimes not scan one of the Zeffo Villagers after a shutdown during saving. Everyone’s favourite droid is now scanning as expected.
- Terrarium sometimes wasn't a very nurturing environment, preventing seeds from growing. It should now give your plants the love and care that they deserve, encouraging them to grow properly.
- General stability improvements.
