Star Wars Hunters is a squad-based, online multiplayer game coming to Switch

Star Wars Hunters is coming to Nintendo Switch this year.

Announced during the Nintendo Direct this evening, Star Wars Hunters is a squad-based, online multiplayer game where you will build a team out of all-new Star Wars characters.

These characters include bounty hunters, stormtroopers, wookies, and heroes of the Rebellion. Once you build your team, you will then face off against other squads in arenas based on iconic Star Wars settings.

The game's timeline is set between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

Developed by Zynga and Lucasfilm, the competitive arena combat game will be available free to download for the Nintendo Switch, and will not require a Nintendo Switch Online membership when it releases later this year.

It will also be released through the App Store and Google Play.
