Will Star Wars Battlefront be shown next month?

Star Wars Battlefront is going to have a pretty short PR cycle, even if it does kick off in April.

We know Star Wars Battlefront is supposed to release this year, but we've seen almost nothing of it - a few assets at E3 2014 is pretty much the sum of it.

But we also know that it is in a state to be shown, at least behind closed doors; EA showed Battlefront gameplay footage to retail partners recently.

So when will press and consumers get a look in? Well, there's good reason to think "April 16 through 19". In other words, the official Star Wars Convention in Anaheim, California, where, as it happens, EA has indicated it will be in attendance.

This would be a good bet regardless, but EA has said a couple of times that it would start showing off the DICE shooter during northern spring. E3 2015, we're were certain to see Battlefront, takes place in June - summer - so we should see Battlefront before then. What other major event could be more appropriate than the ultimate gathering of Star Wars fans?

Assuming Battlefront releases at the end of this year, as we've been led to believe so far, an April public debut would give it at most eight months of major promotion. Shorter PR cycles have proved quite successful for games like Far Cry 4, and Star Wars has so much weight as a franchise it likely doesn't need more than that.

It's quite likely EA has been a bit quiet about Star Wars Battlefront due to Battlefield: Hardline's delay into this month. It hardly wants to hype two big multiplayer shooters at once, right?
