Battles in Star Fox can be fought via new cockpit view using the Wii U Gamepad
The new Star Fox entry in the works for Wii U will feature a new cockpit view which players can use when they want to "get serious about battling an enemy."
Speaking in an interview with iJustine, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto said that the new viewing mode will allow players to see both the cockpit view via the Gamepad, or look up at the TV screen to see a more "cinematic" third-person view.
"What we have on the Gamepad screen is a cockpit view, and on the TV screen you’ve got a third person, more cinematic view," said Miyamoto via his translator. "As you’re playing, what you’ll find is that you’ll spend your time looking back and forth between the two, and when you want see the really cool cinematic visuals as you’re playing, you’ll look up at the TV screen and when you want to get really serious about battling an enemy, you’ll look down at the cockpit view."
Players will be able to switch to the traditional mode of playing Star Fox if they wish though, meaning the cockpit view is just an option.
As noted by Only Singleplayer, Miyamoto teased Amiibo support for Star Fox as well as the upcoming The Legend of Zelda game.
A release date for Star Fox has yet to be announced, but during a pre-recorded session shown at The Game Awards 2014, Miyamoto said he expects the game to be released before the next Zelda game sometime this year.
