Squadron 42 isn't coming out anytime soon
Star Citizen developer, Cloud Imperium, has issued a new progress update on the title's single-player campaign, Squadron 42.
The new update from the studio doesn't make for encouraging reading for anyone expecting to get their hands on the single-player portion of Star Citizen any time soon.
Director Chris Roberts posted in a new update on the studio's blog revealing that Squadron 42 itself is nowhere near complete.
“[...] I have decided that it is best to not show Squadron 42 gameplay publicly, nor discuss any release date until we are closer to the home stretch and have high confidence in the remaining time needed to finish the game to the quality we want.”
Back in July 2020, the studio posted a preview of a mock-up of a work-in-progress roadmap for Squadron 42, in which it was revealed the beta phase was meant to launch in Q2 2020. Of course, that didn't happen.
In October 2020, it was once again insisted that there is no ETA on when it will launch.
Now, with this update, the developer seems to be doubling down on the fact that the title is nowhere near completion even though it was announced years ago.
A lot of gamers are eager to see the title in action, mostly thanks to its massively A-list, star-studded cast which includes Gary Oldman, Gillian Anderson, Andy Serkis, and more besides.
Squadron 42 was originally set for release in 2016. We don't even have a vague suggestion of when it'll launch now.
