Stadia Founders Edition to be replaced with Premiere Edition when stock is all out
Google has revealed that as stock of the Stadia Founders Edition runs out, it will be replaced with a different edition.
The Google Stadia Founders Edition, in case you missed it, is a limited edition bundle that guarantees access to Stadia this November. The $129 edition includes a Chromecast Ultra, a Night Blue controller, a three-month subscription to Stadia Pro plus a three-month pass for a friend.
According to Google's director of games, Jack Buser, the Founders Edition stock has nearly been exhausted in most of Europe. However, once it's gone, Google will offer a new edition dubbed the Stadia Premiere Edition to anyone looking to jump in as soon as the service goes live.
Buser confirmed this to Gamesradar, adding that Premiere will cost €129 in Europe, with prices for other regions to be revealed later. The Premiere Edition is set to launch "shortly after" the Founders Edition.
The contents of the package are similar, with a Chromecast Ultra, three-month subscription to Stadia Pro and a Clearly White controller rather than the limited edition Night Blue.
"We've been watching the numbers dwindle down and down and down as we've announced more and more games coming – we're up to over 40 games now that have been announced for the platform, with over 28 partners, which is amazing," Buser said.
"And yeah, we were super excited. And gamers are excited, they are responding! I mean, this is why it's selling out."
Stadia Pro launches sometime this November, whereas the free version is due out early next year. Pro offers up to 4K 60fps streaming with 5.1 audio, and a collection of free games.
