When Dragon Quest XI was first announced by Square Enix in 2015, the company also said a version for the then-named Nintendo NX was coming. As the game rounded its launch on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS in Japan, word on a port for the recently-released Nintendo Switch remained quiet. Even when Dragon Quest XI launched for PC in North America and Europe, Switch fans were still waiting on any word about their version.
Today at the Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix confirmed that Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is still coming to Nintendo Switch, albeit under a slightly-different name. The new version is Dragon Quest XI S, according to a tweet by Takashi Mochizuki of the Wall Street Journal.
There's still no release date, nor is there any indication what style of game Dragon Quest XI S will be. The PlayStation 4 and PC version of the game has a full 3D presentation, while the Japan-only 3DS release offers a hybrid 2d and 3D presentation.
