Splinter Cell: Conviction demo release was "nerve-wracking", says Ubisoft
Releasing the demo for Splinter Cell: Conviction was basically like being "naked in front of everyone". The words of creative director Max Beland, not us.
Speaking at the launch party for the game in LA to GameTrailers, Beland said the release of the taster, launched last month on Xbox Live Marketplace, was "nerve-wracking".
"It's always very nerve-wracking when you release a demo, right? It's like the first time you're basically naked in front of everyone when they get to play the game."
Bless him.
"What's interesting in the demo is that it really showcases one aspect of the game that's really strong, and it's the emergent AI. You know, there's a lot of replay value because of our AI," he further added.
"Because it's not scripted you can really play the way you want and the AI's going to react to whatever you're doing. So you can try to play a little bit more stealth, or a little bit less stealth if you're less into that. So I think for that side the feedback was great."
Some new videos came out from Conviction today, featuring three vignettes and one video based on one of its main gameplay features, Mark & Execute.
Splinter Cell: Conviction’s out next week for Xbox 360 in the US and UK.
The PC version was recently held back until April 29, which Ubisoft insists was not down to its very much controversial DRM software.
