Splatoon gets 40 new gear pieces today, two maps inbound

Splatoon continues the new Nintendo strategy of constantly throwing free stuff at you.
A Splatoon update is rolling out today adding 40 new pieces of gear, according to today's Nintendo Direct presentation.
Although there's a lot of variety on offer, the key themes are winter gear - and also bandanas, for some reason. Well, that's something for those of us in the southern hemisphere!
Nintendo's support plans don't end with today's drop; two new maps are coming into rotation, too. They're called Mahi Mahi Resort and Museum d'alfonsino.
Nintendo also said it's planning to host a new Splatoon tournament in December.
