Original Spider-Man PS4 saves won't work with the PS5 remaster
Spider-Man fans looking to check out the game's remaster on PS5 will have to start over.
The Ultimate Edition of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which releases in November, comes with a remaster of the base PS4 game.
The Ultimate Edition is only available on PS5, and those looking to continue their journey across generations will be disappointed. Developer Insomniac Games has confirmed that saves will not transfer between the PS4 game and the PS5 remaster.
In case you missed it, the remaster brings updated lighting, art assets and animations to the PS4 original. It also adds ray tracing, and makes use of the PS5's SSD to speed up loading times, and allow for higher crowd densities across New York. As with Miles Morales, the remaster will even offer a 60fps performance mode.
Separately, Insomniac confirmed that, as fans suspected, Miles Morales' Ultimate Edition will only be available digitally, with "no plans" currently to release a physical version.
The Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition will take up at least 105GB on PS5, which makes sense considering it's a package of two games. The Ultimate Edition will cost the new standard for first-party Sony games of $70, along with other titles like Demon's Souls and Destruction All Stars
Both the base Spider-Man: Miles Morales game and its Ultimate Edition will be available beginning November 12 on PS5. Miles Morales is also coming to PS4 on the same day.
