18 minutes of new Spider-Man footage shows classic suit, nighttime, traversal tricks, more
The upcoming Spider-Man has consistently been one of the best looking games on PS4.
Although we've seen plenty of Spider-Man gameplay in the past, it's hard to look away whenever new footage is released.
In particular, this new video from PlayStation Access features 18 minutes of gameplay with commentary by creative director Bryan Intihar. The footage is captured from the first couple of hours, so some of this could be considered a spoiler.
If you're not too worried about that, however, then you're in for a real treat. Intihar starts off by showing some stealth gameplay, and some of the non-confrontational tools Spidey has at his disposal.
The footage is edited, so it quickly jumps into open world exploration. One of the collectables scattered around NYC are backpacks. Finding and interacting with one unlocks some back story that Spider-Man can elaborate on. There's also a look at some unlockable traversal moves.
These trick animations add a bit of flare to the already stunning swinging animations. In the video, Intihar confirmed that while we'll be able to explore NYC at night, the game doesn't feature a dynamic day/night cycle.
It'll instead switch to the appropriate time of day the developer wants, but you'll be able flip back and forth after finishing the story. There's a lot more in the video, which you can watch below.
We continue to be impressed by Spider-Man, and at a recent hands-on demo, we were happy to see the all elements come together nicely.
Spider-Man is out September 7 on PS4.
