Sony wants PS4 to be "easiest, most accessible place" for developers to release games
Sony developer relations executive Adam Boyes has said he would like PlayStation platforms to be as accessible as possible to developers.
Speaking in an interview with CVG, Boyes said he would like Sony platforms to be as open as possible to developers, along the lines of Steam and mobile.
"I would like [PlayStation] to be the easiest, most accessible place for anyone that's making great games to come out, and have their games come to the broadest amount of people," he said noting that PlayStation 4's architecture makes porting games easier thanks to it being similar to PC.
"TowerFall alone took about eight weeks to port over," he said. "Octodad took eight or 10 weeks for them to bring over. So it's just making it easier for developers.
"For PlayStation it means a rich, diverse breadth of content. From the very top, big Call of Duty and Destiny and Battlefield and Maddens of the world, all the way to Starwhal: Just the Tip or Nidhogg."
He added that key to the company's success is its openness and sincerity when engaging with indie developers.
Boyes also added that Sony's commitment to indies isn't just "shtick" as the desire to bring games over to Sony platforms "comes from them."
Sony announced earlier this week that over 100 indie games are on their way to PS4 and Vita.
