This patent shows what could be a PlayStation 5 development kit - or something else entirely

Console development kits don't usually look like the final model, so don't get too excited over this Sony patent just yet.

A patent filed by Sony Interactive Entertainment has popped up, and shows what appears to be a console of sorts.

Listed as an unknown device, and dug up by Let's Go Digital, it has many believing the device could be a PlayStation 5 development kit.

Here's a look at it posted by Andrew Marmo on Twitter:

The large "V" in the center looks like the machine's exhaust to us, which is usually present on the back of most electronics. This could provide ample air to keep what's under the hood cool.

Of course, we can't confirm whether this is indeed the PS5 dev kit, a prototype, or some other electronic device in development at Sony.

Just consider it something interesting for the time being.

Not too much is known about the next PlayStation console at the moment, but Sony is expected to reveal more information on it next year.

Until then, keep up with everything we do know about PS5 through our handy hub page.
