Sony Online Entertainment's Star Wars game unaffected by EA franchise deal

While the exact details of EA's deal to exclusively develop games for the Star Wars franchise aren't known, Sony Online Entertainment has confirmed the deal doesn't damage their free-to-play title Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures.

Speaking to Massively, Sony Online Entertainment representatives confirmed that the game would remain safe in spite of the freshly-signed EA deal.

"Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures is fully armed and operational," a representative for the company told the site. "This week's announcement does not affect our current agreement with Lucasfilm."

This confirmation gives a good indication that EA's deal may have specific exceptions - and it may be the case that PC-based free to play titles simply aren't included in the agreement. Nintendo fans will likely be hoping for more such exceptions after EA confirmed that its Frostbite 3-based Star Wars games wouldn't be appearing on Wii U. Thanks, CVG.
