Sony Online Entertainment's Fan faire is now SOE Live

I sure hope you haven't started screen printing your shirts for the October Fan Faire, because Sony Online Entertainment has pulled an artist-formerly-known-as on it.

This year's newly dubbed SOE Live event will run from October 18 through 21, at Bally’s in Las Vegas.

“The ‘SOE Live’ name change represents a deeper meaning behind our annual event,” SOE's Laura Naviaux said.

“As our game portfolio continues to expand, we wanted to better represent our diverse player base and games, including the newest additions to the SOE family, with DC Universe Online, Free Realms, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, and the highly anticipated PlanetSide 2. Previous event attendees can rest assured that we are not removing any of our established activities in order to accommodate the new players; rather, they can expect even more to make this the ultimate SOE fan experience.”

My unofficial translation of this is: "Fan Faire" sounded too much like "Renaissance Faire" and it can't all be about Everquest. But take heart! Stick on elf ears will still be welcomed - nay: celebrated.

As for what will actually happen at said event, we can expect "a slew of social events, SOE will also host developer panel discussions and game-themed live events, giving attendees a chance to voice their opinions of current and upcoming game content" as well as "exclusive access to new announcements and beta programs, tournaments, premium swag, and more".

There's a website you can check for more information.

Sony Online Entertainment's portfolio includes Everquest, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, Planetside and DC Universe Online, among dozens more.
