Sitting squarely in the "not messing about" category, news surfaces today that Sony's recent promotion to give away a 40Gb PS3 with every Bravia TV in Australia has resulted in 28,000 machines being handed out.

"On the Bravia PS3 offer, we're now up to 28,000-plus - these are audited numbers from Sony. They have taken about a 30 percent market in flat screens for the month of January off the back of that promotion," said SCE Australia boss Michael Ephraim.

The promotion ran for a month from December 21 last year. Any chance of the same thing in the UK, Sony? Please?
