Sonic the Hedgehog 2 theatrical release set for 2022

Paramount has set a theatrical release date for the sequel to the Sonic the Hedgehog film.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is set to open in theaters on April 8, 2022, according to an announcement from Paramount (via Variety).
The film company announced back in May the sequel was in the development stages.
It was also announced at that time, director Jeff Fowler and scriptwriters Pat Casey and Josh Miller will return for the sequel.
Sonic the Hedgehog was released in theaters earlier this year and went on to become one of the most successful video game movies of all time.
