SOE responds to player concerns over ProSiebenSat.1 and Alaplaya EU deal

SOE's director of global community relations, Linda "Brasse" Carlson, has responded to various concerns over the possible EU publishing switch of eight MMOs, which would have ProSiebenSat.1 and Alaplaya handling the titles in Europe.

Those who play SOE MMOs voiced concern that the deal would segregate the US and European player base.

The possibility caused a heated debate on various SOE game forums, particularly on EverQuest II and DC Universe Online forums - two of the games on the list - and it resulted in a number of bans

In response, Carlson posted the following, hoping her official statement would calm things down a bit:

"Hey folks – I know it’s been a long few days, and we fully appreciate the time and effort you’ve taken to provide your feedback," she wrote. "As we’ve said before, we ARE listening, and we are in discussions with ProSieben. We will come back to you with information when it becomes available, but it will be some time yet.

"Please keep in mind that this is not an overnight process and no games are transitioning to ProSieben immediately. Thank you for bearing with us during this planning period."

Users voiced the most concern over the Alaplaya deal, which according to reports, reserves the right to delete accounts inactive after 90 days. The firm has also been accused of publishing real names on past-due accounts - a claim the firm staunchly denies.

Games which would be affected by the possible change are: Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, Magic: The Gathering - Tactics, Pox Nora, DC Universe Online, EverQuest II, Free Realms, PlanetSide 2, and EverQuest Next.

For now, it looks as though nothing has been set in stone, but we'll let you know if anything changes.
