Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues breaks its monthly crowdfunding record

Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues fans poured $330,000 into the RPG's coffers in March, making it the most lucrative month of crowdfunding since Richard Garriott's latest completed its Kickstarter campaign.

In a blog post, developer Portalarium said the additional funds raised since the end of the Kickstarter have allowed it to expand the Shroud of the Avatar development team to 31 staffers as well as add new content and features.

One of these new additions is coconuts, which backers can bang together emulating the sound of horse hooves as they traipse about pretending to trot, since Portalarium won't be able to implement mounts before launch day. This might be an April Fools joke, but you never can tell with Garriott.

The shared-worlds RPG has been crowdfunding for almost exactly one year now, and has raised $3,725,550 at time of writing. $2 million of this figure was raised during its Kickstarter campaign.

Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues is expected later this year, and time is running out for those who want to purchase founder's packs to gain access to extra content and goodies.
