Shovel Knight is getting a retail release next year with the launch of amiibo and single-player campaign

Shovel Knight gets a Nintendo Switch and PS4 retail release alongside amiibo, multiplayer mode, and third expansion.

Yacht Club Games has finally announced the release date of the long-awaited Shovel Knight amiibo triple-pack, the King of Cards single-player campaign, and the Shovel Knight Showdown multiplayer mode. All three will be available on April 9, 2019, the same day as the physical retail release of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove for PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is the complete edition of the game and will get a physical and digital release in North America and Europe on the same day. It'll cost around $39.99 and pre-orders will be live at Gamestop, Amazon, and Best Buy soon.

"To accompany the final release of the game, the price of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove has also risen," reads the update, citing the jump up from $24.99 to $40.

"Similarly to our pricing for Specter of Torment, we figured the immense size and addition of two new brand new games warrants the new price. The price of the digital version will also increase around this release."

Players can still grab the game digitally for the existing price of $25 for now, right up until April next year.

"We’ll also continue to offer digital standalone versions of each game separately on certain platforms," Yacht Club Games added.

Both King of Cards and Shovel Knight Showdown will be available as free updates to Treasure Trove owners.

Alternatively you can pick up the multiplayer mode as a standalone for $9.99 on release, although it won't be coming to 3DS and Vita versions of the game.
