Shin Megami Tensei 4 character and plot detailed in Famitsu
Shin Megami Tensei 4 was featured in this week's issue of Famitsu, with a few details of the protagonist, main companions, and setting escaping into the wild.
The RPG is set in the fictional country of East Mikado, which Siliconera reports is a country based on medieval Europe, but with samurai instead of knights. The year in 1492, and walls surround the city-state where King Ahaziah Mikado rules.
The player character is a nameable 18 year old male who dreams he has the power to change the world, so completes a ritual and becomes a samurai. He then joins an elite society which hunts demons, the existence of which is a secret from most of the population.
Two of his companions have been introduced. Issachar is a big brother-type character, a lifelong samurai hopeful and the player's childhood friend. Hope is a samurai leader who guides new recruits while devoting his life to protecting East Mikado. You can see both characters in screenshots on Famitsu; Hope is the one in white.
Shin Megami Tensei 4, the latest in a sprawling franchise which also includes Persona and its arguable spin-off Catherine, arrives on 3DS in Japan in 2013.
