Shenmue 3 is making (some) progress on its facial animations

Shenmue 3's faces are looking less weird. A little. We guess.

Shenmue 3 is certainly exciting for fans and backers who have been craving a sequel since 2003. That doesn't change the tiny fact that characters from last month's trailer seemed dead on the inside. Seemingly aware of this reaction, Ys Net published a tongue-in-cheek developer video on Shenmue's 3 updated facial animations. And it's an improvement, we suppose.

The video is relatively short at only a minute long, and mostly focuses on the mysterious grandmother figure featured from the Gamescom trailer. While the visuals are more detailed, there's clearly still some work to be done.

But hey, Shenmue 3 is still happening! After a decade, it's hard to complain about that.
