Shark Punch formed by three former Disney staffers, first title is The Masterplan
Three former Disney Interactive employees have banded together to announce a new studio and debut release.
GamesIndustry reports Shark Punch is currently composed of designer Aarne Hunziker, CEO Jiri Kupiainen and programmer Leo Lännenmäki.
The three met while working at Finnish developer Rocket Pack, which was later acquired by Disney Interactive. The self-funded and owned company will "focus on creating games that offer deep, involving gameplay in a streamlined package" and definitely not mid-core games.
The studio's first game is called The Masterplan, a PC exclusive due sometime this year. It's reral-time-with-pause affair set in the early '70s, and tells the story of "the greatest heist in the history of mankind".
Players will build and equip heist crews to contend with AI and physics puzzles, and enjoy hand-drawn 2D art and "an authentic soundtrack recorded by a real band".
Last week, Disney Interactive laid-off 700 staff in a mass culling of its online, social and mobile business.
