Shadowrun Chronicles is also out now, and also has a launch trailer
Is it just me or have a whole bunch of games come out this week?
I feel like every third headline I've written this week has been "[game x] out now - launch trailer". And yet if you'd asked me if there was anything on the schedule this time last week, I would have said practically nothing. What a wonderful time to be alive, when games rain from the sky in such numbers that we casually forget the existence of most of them.
The subject of this article is not, in fact, musings on the games industry and the media, but Shadowrun Chronicles: Boston Lockdown. You may remember it by its former title Shadowrun Online, which was shucked to communicate the fact that the game is fully playable offline.
Update: A kindly correction has been received. The original information I hastily and erroneously extrapolated from is that the name was changed to indicate that Shadowrun Chronicles is not an MMO. Mea culpa. In fact, background processing in Shadowrun Chronicles runs on the server, so requires a persistent Internet connection. It does support single-player for sure, though.
This single- and multiplayer action strategy effort is now available for Linux, Mac and PC on Steam, where the base package goes for $40 or local equivalent. A launch discount of 25% is in effect until May 5, and also applies to various special bundles.
It comes to us courtesy of Cliffhanger Productions, which was also responsible for Aerena. Here is a trailer to look at. It is very dramatic.
