Shadow of the Tomb Raider gameplay shows the largest hub ever in the series

Square Enix has released a new Shadow of the Tomb Raider video dedicated to the city of Paititi, the largest hub ever in a Tomb Raider game.

Paititi acts as a hub in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Untouched by modern civilisation, Paititi has access to several new activities.

There's a social space with traders and NPCs, which is where you'll be able to buy crafting materials, new outfits but also take quests and side quests. The hub itself leads to tombs and hidden crypts, in the same way the hub in Rise of the Tomb Raider did.

Learning the language of this unstudied culture also works in a similar way to how it did in Rise. The more you read of the language, the more Lara will understand, which will in turn unlock access to other areas.

You may recall from earlier reveals that developer Eidos Montreal referred to it as the hidden city. Today's video gives context to that idea.

Interestingly, Shadow of the Tomb Raider has three separate difficulty options for exploration, puzzles, and combat.

Each can be adjusted independently. For instance, setting exploration to hard removes the white markers on walls that tell you where to climb. This is a neat touch, and one which will no doubt be appreciated by purists.
