Shadow of the Tomb Raider officially announced, full reveal in April
After practically everything about the announcement leaked ahead of time, Square Enix has now officially unveiled Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
Following a teaser campaign that kicked off yesterday and lasted briefly, the third game in the modern Tomb Raider trilogy, titled Shadow of the Tomb Raider, has been officially announced.
The teaser was building up to today's announcement, but was sadly sabotaged after players found references to the release date in website code. To make matters worse, the short teaser trailer that was supposed to go live today was also leaked thanks to a theatre showing.
All of the details uncovered yesterday have now been confirmed. Namely, the title and the September 14 release date. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is not part of a timed exclusivity deal this time, either, and will release simultaneously on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
The game's official unveiling will take place at a special event on April 27, three of them in fact across different parts of the world. Square Enix previously promised the reveal will be part of an event, but only revealed the date today.
To tide you over until then, we have a very brief CG teaser that sadly doesn't show much. Take a look:
Shadow of the Tomb Raider first popped up on the radar thanks to one strange leak back in 2016. The name was spotted by a subway rider on another person's laptop while they were busy reading a presentation on the game and not worried who might see it.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is out September 14 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
