Sekiro: How to Beat the Blazing Bull

Near the end of the Ashina Outskirts section of Sekiro, you'll be tasked with taking on a mad bull in combat. In our Sekiro Blazing Bull boss guide, we'll be walking you through how to defeat the Blazing Bull in Sekiro as quickly and easily as possible.

How to Beat the Blazing Bull

Before we go any further, we'll be providing you with some of the more essential tips that you need to know for taking on the Blazing Bull in Sekiro.

  • Space is not on your side in this fight, but you should try dodging sideways rather than jumping over the bull.
  • The Firecracker is great for stopping the boss in its tracks.
  • When the bull dips its head down, you can actually parry the follow up attack.

Christ, imagine Gyoubu Oniwa riding around on this thing instead of a horse. The Blazing Bull can be really tough in Sekiro because you've got very limited space in which to work, and the attacks of the beast are so wide and cover a lot of ground very quickly. This fight is all about reacting quickly, which I guess isn't really different from the rest of Sekiro.

Blazing Bull Tips

When the Blazing Bull first rushes out of the hut, get close to it immediately. A great tactic for temporarily immobilizing the boss is to use the Firecracker Prosthetic. This will cause the bull to rear up onto its hind legs (which we're not actually convinced bulls can do), and it'll stay like this for a few seconds, letting you lay into it with a few attacks.

Thankfully, the Blazing Bull only has one Deathblow meter, so there are multiple stages to this fight. One thing that's not made obvious is that you can actually parry the Blazing Bull. When the bull lowers its head down to the ground and charges at you, Wolf can deflect the attack with a perfectly timed button press.

When the main tree trunk that's on the bull's head is just about to collide with Wolf, press the deflect button. The bull will now be temporarily stunned, and you can run in for a quick few hits.

When faced with the Blazing Bull's attacks, it's better to dodge rather than jump. You stand a far greater chance of moving entirely out of the way of the bull if you dodge back, whereas you can always be caught by the trailing end of the tree trunk if you resort to jumping.

How to Cheese the Blazing Bull in Sekiro

In order to defeat this boss as easily as possible, you'll need the Firecracker. Rebound off the walls of the arena to dodge the boss, then let off one attack, and then use the Firecracker, stunning the boss in one place and then attacking it repeatedly.
