Watch brief new footage of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice's Hirata Estates area
Hirata Estates is one of the early places you'll visit in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice's Hirata Estates is a bit of unique area, both in terms of its gameplay and it's place in the main story. In new gameplay footage by Game Informer, we learn that this particular place isn't actually connected to the rest of the game's world.
That's because Hirata Estates takes place in a flashback, which the player will need to go through in order a understand the relationship with a particular main character. From Software has only attempted this sort of playable flashback once, as part of the memories of the Giants in Dark Souls 2.
Though Dark Souls 2's attempt was a tightly structured, cinematic level, it appears Sekiro's approach is much more open and free form. In fact, Game Informer notes that Hirata Estates will be used as a sort of showcase of the game's new core mechanics, particularly with traversal, and stealth.
Both are completely new for a From Software game, so it's crucial that this area teaches players about the possibilities in combat and exploration.
Recently, we learned more about Sekiro's game world, as well as its hub area.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is out March 22 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
