Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a new Soulslike developed by FromSoftware
The newest game by FromSoftware is Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Set in feudal Japan, it seems to be following the template set by other FromSoft games.
It’s being published by Activision and it is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC, though it made its debut during the Xbox conference at E3. It will be directed by Dark Souls mastermind Hidetaka Miyazaki. You'll play as the eponymous Sekiro, also known as the 'one-armed wolf'.
The game seems to be very similar to what you’d expect from the team behind Bloodborne and Dark Souls, though it looks to expand your agility abilities, allowing you to grapple and flip around like a ninja.
Here's the trailer:
After the Xbox conference, Activision released some extra information about the game. It's set in ate 1500s Sengoku Japan, and will feature RPG elements, presumably letting you level up Sekiro's abilities. It's a single-player game, with a plot that focuses on rescue and revenge.
As well as more movement abilities, the trailer shows the protagonist pushing up against a wall as an enemy walks by. It seems like you'll be able to use stealth in a meaningful way, rather than just walking up behind someone for a free critical hit like in Dark Souls. It looks great.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is due to release in early 2019. Hopefully we'll have more to report from it once we've hit the show floor.
