Sega set Total War: Rome 2 for September 3rd release
Sega has finally confirmed the release date for Total War: Rome 2 as September 3rd, 2013.
The release date will be identical worldwide - a Tuesday - meaning a simultaneous global launch.
The company also confirmed a selection of other details about Creative Assembly's latest RTS including the pack art, pre-order bonuses and Collector's Edition.
The Collector's Edition will be produced in one limited run of 22,000 individually numbered copies and contains a number of Roman-themed items in a leather-effect presentation box with a magnetic, gold-coloured clasp to close it.
Included inside that snazzy box is a uniquely-numbered (Roman numerals, of course) steelbook copy of the game, a kit with which you can construct your very own Roman Onager, a set of replica Roman dice and roundels, a canvas campaign map and an exclusive Punic Wars card game. The box even doubles as a classic Roman game board when unfolded.
You can find out who near you is stocking the ridiculously packed Collector's Edition through this link.
Those who pre-order any edition of the game from participating retailers will get their hands on the first DLC for free. That DLC, the Greek States Culture Pack, adds three additional playable factions - Epirus, Athens and Sparta. Each faction has unique units, buildings, missions and win conditions as well as their own tech tree. Sparta is deliberately designed as a challenging, difficult faction to use.
