Sega has posted its latest quarterly results, and things aren’t looking so hot for the house that Sonic built.

Overall, the company posted an operating loss of $102 million and a net loss of $105 million, in spite of a 90 percent increase to $305 million of sales in its consumer division.

Meanwhile, Sega Sammy’s pachinko backbone posted an operating loss of $43 million. Again, not looking good.

Additionally, Valkyria Chronicles, easily one of Sega’s most anticipated titles, sold an abysmal 147,000 copies in Japan. But hey, at least Iron Man kind of saved the day. The critically-panned man-in-an-iron-mask simulator sold 1,840,000 copies in Europe and the US.

Well, as Iron Man said, “It’s always darkest before dawn.”

Actually, that was Batman.
