Sea of Thieves Gold Hoarder Faction Guide

No matter what sort of outpost you start off Sea of Thieves in, you’ll always find a tent nearby to the tavern in which you wake up, and this dark purple tent is the home of the Gold Hoarder faction. Within the tent, you can always find a Gold Hoarder merchant, who’ll offer you three basic quests when you first start the game, and more difficult quests as you level up your reputation with the Gold Hoarders.

Levelling up your reputation with the Gold Hoarder faction is actually fairly simple, although it can be a long and arduous process. Firstly, you can select three voyages to take on at any one time, and if you want to level up your reputation with the Gold Hoarders as quickly as possible, we’d suggest selecting all three starter voyages from the vendor when you first reach the tent.

From here, you can simply set sail, either alone or with a crew, in order to complete the treasure-themed voyages for the Gold Hoarders as quickly as possible, and return to them with all the treasure chests you’ve mustered from your voyages. Returning chests to the faction vendor is how you’ll increase your standing with the Gold Hoarders, but the chests themselves aren’t always easy to find. The Gold Hoarder voyages will nearly always have you and your crew searching through a riddle to uncover the secret location of buried treasure, or analysing a map of an island dotted somewhere on the high seas, in order to uncover a treasure chest buried there.

As we’ve detailed over in our Sea of Thieves money guide, the Gold Hoarders are considered the best faction to dedicate your voyages to, if you intend on earning a lot of money relatively quickly.

Sea of Thieves Gold Hoarder Rewards

While the actual Gold Hoarder merchants themselves will give you money and reputation increase as a reward for returning chests directly to them, your Gold Goarder reputation can be increased to unlock new purchase options from many of the additional vendors in Sea of Thieves. For example, if you level up your reputation with the Gold Hoarders to level 50, you can purchase the Royal Sovereign Figurehead from the Shipwright for your own pirate ship.

This Royal Sovereign theme continues with other merchants, as you can purchase the Royal Sovereign Dress from the General Clothing Store if your reputation with the Gold Hoarders reaches level 53, and you can purchase the Royal Sovereign Concertina from the General Equipment Store if your reputation reaches level 41. It’s entirely worth dedicating yourself to one particular faction in Sea of Thieves, as there are plenty of rewards that wait in store for you with all different kinds of merchants.
