Sea of Thieves gets new trailer, release date at The Game Awards 2017

Sea of Thieves, rare's multiplayer pirate adventure, finally has a release date.

Microsoft rocked up to The Game Awards 2017 to give us an update on Sea of Thieves, the long-awaited new game from beloved British developer, Rare.

The platform holder confirmed a release date for Sea of Thieves of March 20. That's for both Windows 10 PC and Xbox One, of course.

It also gave us a new trailer, which is nice - take a peek and get hype for Sea of Thieves below. It didn't get a lot of love during the show but I know there are some diehard Rare fans as well as Xbox owners really looking forward to this one.

Sea of Thieves has been gathering interest, especially as Rare opens it to more public testing. It seems like the concept is a little hard to communicate, as unusual multiplayer-focused games can be, but those who've played it generally report having a really good time racking around the open seas in a ship with their mates.

It's probably going to spark an unbearable period of games media thinking ocean puns are very funny, though, so let's all batten down the h- oh gosh I'm doing it already. No. Stop. We end here and never speak of this again.
