Scrolls to be cheaper when it hits tablets, current users to be compensated
Mojang's card battler Scrolls is almost ready for tablets, and will be cheaper when it makes the jump.
The Minecraft developer's best-known release after its famous sandbox, Scrolls is currently available on Mac and PC for $21.
When the card battler comes to Android tablets and iPad sometime in northern autumn, Mojang will lower the price of all versions to $5.
On the Scrolls blog, Mojang said it's realised this is just way too expensive for portable devices.
"Our current price point is not feasible for flatter, more touchy, machines."
"We’ve realised that our current price point is not feasible for flatter, more touchy, machines," the developer wrote.
"Our current price of $21 isn’t feasible for tablets. As you probably already know, games are cheap on those things. Free-to-play would be an option, but we’re not keen on the way that that form of monetisation can affect gameplay."
Mojang said it's made this decision so as not to separate the communities across platforms; there will be full cross-play and cross-save, you see.
To compensate those who shelled out the higher ticket price for the current version, Mojang will award them a shard pack worth $20.
