Scotland Yard arrest of hacker had nothing to do with LulzSec

A 19-year-old man charged with offences under the Criminal Law Act and Computer Misuse Act by the Metropolitan Police Service's Police Central e-Crime Unit had nothing to do with LulzSec, according to the official Metro Police website.

Ryan Cleary is being charged with DDoS attacks against the website of the Serious Organised Crime Agency, International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, and the British Phonographic Industry.

He is also being accused of making, adapting, or supplying "an article, namely a Botnet, intending that it should be used to commit, or to assist in the commission of, an offence under section 3 of the Computer Misuse Act 1990."

Earlier reports state the police would be on the lookout for anything related to the PSN hacking in Cleary's kit, and Naked Security reported the arrest was in connection to recent DDoS attack's by LulzSec.

Another report stated Cleary was a former member of Anonymous and 808chan associate, who hacked Anonymous’s IRC server after he parted ways with the group.

The Wickford resident is due to appear in custody at City of Westminster Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.
