The pair were neck-to-neck in the final game of the double elimination tournament. Neither competitor deviated from their characters: SonicFox mained Jacqui Briggs while Scar mained Sonya Blade.
Scar won the first match, but Sonic Fox stole the next two points. Scar had a reversal of fortune when he won the fourth match though, and in the sudden death showdown, he defeated SonicFox with a sneaky ranged attack.
Both competitors took to Twitter after the match, with both vowing to continue the grind:
Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon sweetened Scar's win with a tweet calling Scar the "greatest Mortal Kombat 11 player in the world."
SonicFox, who won the award for Best Esports Player at last year's The Game Awards, has never won a Combo Breaker tournament, but swears he'll have his day:
In Mortal Kombat news, the latest entry in the series was the best-selling game on all platforms last month, and the developers are currently working to remove the 30fps cap on PC.
