2D Souls-like side-scroller Salt and Sanctuary is coming to Switch
Salt and Sanctuary, Ska Studios' love letter to the Souls series, hits the Nintendo Switch next month.
Salt and Sanctuary will be released August 2 on Switch, priced $18. The game was first released on PS4 in March 2016, before a PC version launched in May of the same year.
The Switch launch is important because Ska had promised to release the game on the Vita, and finally delivered a year later. But by that point, the Nintendo Switch was starting to look a lot like the Vita's replacement, as far as handheld gaming goes.
The Switch port was done by BlitWorks, and will launch with all content available on PC, and PS4.
If you've never played it, Salt and Sanctuary does a good job of translating Souls mechanics into a 2D format. Combat is deliberate, with hand-crafted levels that are intended to be hard but never unfair. There's a variety of weapons to choose from, and you're even able to bring a buddy along for co-op.
Salt and Sanctuary on Switch is a digital-only release, coming August 2. However, Ska is planning a physical version for Switch in the fall, called the Drowned Tome Edition.
