Rumour - Xbox 720 to be cheaper, smaller and use Windows 9
Aniother day, another set of whispers on what form Microsoft's successor to the Xbox 360 will take.
According to blogger MSNerd - whose tips have proven reliable in the past - the new hardware is codenamed Loop, and was once called XboxTV.
The source claims the console will use a Windows 9-based operating system.
Hardware-wise, it is said to have some hardware similarities to the Zune HD, and be custom designed by Microsoft and two unnamed partners. It will reportedly feature "multiple dedicated assistive cores for graphics, AI, physics, sound, networking, encryption and sensors" in addition to the main processor.
"It will be cheaper than the 360, further enabling Kinect adoption. And it will be far smaller than the 360. It will also demonstrate how Windows Phone could possible implement Win9’s dev platform on the lower end," MSNerd claimed.
