Rumor: First screens of Halo: Reach "Defiant" map pack slip out
Reach is great and all, but let's face it: if you have to go on one more murder-frolic around Swordbase, you'll hurl your Xbox off an overpass in the middle of rush hour.
Fortunately for you (and your poor, innocent console), it looks like help is on the way.
A site by the name of Halo Destiny recently got its hands on what it claimed to be the first info and screens of a new Halo: Reach map pack called "Defiant." Apparently, it'll contain three brand new playgrounds for you crazy kids to riddle with bullet holes: "Condemned," "Unearthed," and "Highlands."
Microsoft quickly requested that Halo Destiny remove the materials in question, and - not wanting to be, you know, defiant - the site complied. However, as of this article's publishing, there's still a Flickr account with screenshots and a Joystiq post with all the details.
So then, here's what we know: Condemned's set on a human frigate (and not, unfortunately, in the seedy underbelly of Sega's underrated Criminal Origins), Unearthed is more open, and Highlands* is being glassed by a giant friggin' Covenant ship.
All told, the map pack looks to pack quite a bit of potential. And - based on Microsoft's reaction - there's a decent chance it's the real deal. Fingers crossed.
(*Note: the Flickr account refers to Highlands as "Training Preserve.")
