Rockstar never seriously considered a PC port of Red Dead Redemption, says former employee
Ever since the release of Red Dead Redemption back in 2010, PC fan have never lost hope that one day the game would be released on the platform. It seems, however, that all of it was in vain.
Kris Roberts, who worked at Rockstar as Red Dead Redemption's lead multiplayer designer, brought up the subject of Red Dead Redemption's MIA PC version during a Twitch live stream.
The livestream was on Roberts' personal channel and touched on how a PC version was never planned. "I don't think there was ever an intention to have a PC version of Red Dead Redemption," said Roberts during the show. "I was actually super shocked that they did a PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5."
Roberts added that despite the game being developed in a win32 PC environment, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions were always the ones the studio intended to release. "To the best of my recollection, we never even seriously talked about optimizing it for PC," he added.
Roberts currently works for Daybreak Games on H1Z1. As for Red Dead Redemption, it is among the top-requested Xbox One backwards compatibility games.
Thanks, Gamespot.
