Rocket League hits 5M downloads, new map screenshot released
Rocket League is really popular. Hope you got on board before it was fashionable.
Rocket League has been downloaded over 5 million times since its July 7 launch, developer Psyonix has announced.
That's more than twice the amount of potential players than precursor Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, Psyonix told Polygon.
The impressive figure was likely helped along by Rocket League's inclusion in Sony's PlayStation Plus scheme, especially as the number of downloads has grown from 4 million to 5 million in the last week. Presumably PS Plus members have rushed to take advantage of a free copy before the July offers are withdrawn.
To celebrate the milestone, Psyonix released a second screenshot of Rocket League's first free map, Utopia Coliseum. You can see it full size here.
Rocket League is a soccer vehicle combat hybrid, available for PC and PS4. It's one of the most-talked about games of summer.
